As an African with non-tech background, I find remote work to be liberating and more rewarding. I’m curious to know your views on remote work.

As someone already said, it has pros and cons: Pros: You can hire people based on their skills, not location You can work with people from all over the world It's said that companies with diversified teams make more money You're in control of your work schedule You don't waste time getting to work in the morning/evening Cons: It's harder to learn from experienced coworkers, especially for juniors You might feel disconnected from your team So ideally we need to take all pros and get rid of the cons))

Oh for sure it is the future. I think we're going to see more ideas focusing on socializing caused by lack hours at the office. Co-working space is just one of them.

@bestbubbledev yes.. new places, new people, new networks.

Remote working is not good enough for freshers in any field and on the other hand, it is just best when it comes to traveling expenses. Thus, a hybrid work culture is what I think is best.

@excellentweb_australia yes best way to learn is being surrounded by team. Hybrid is good for experienced.

We all need balance, and I would use remote work to ensure our productivity stays the same when we have personal needs which needs to be taken care of.

Very much depends on the management team. If they can manage their people remotely, then it's the best they can go with. If management lacks skill though, hybrid or in-house will stick to them for loooong, as they will consider it superior to others.

@paul_d_michaels2 if this is true then the management is dumb af. What I meant, some people need to be working in hybrid mode because you cant leave office completely in some cases, for example there always need to be at least one IT admin in case someone manages to freeze their internet explorer :) Although, if working from site gets down to sitting on online meetings, then it's as wrong as it could get.

@wekh I have been hearing that people who are working hybrid end up commuting to work only to be on Zoom calls all day - something they could have done Work-From-Home!

Definitely future. People like it and it's efficient + good for the world. Does it work? Yes, for some people, teams and companies it works as a charm.

    hybrid is future

This is utopia-as, teamwork and access to a solution to an urgent problem in a product or service becomes impossible. And you are not a competitor for a normal company in your business segment. no online programs like ^time doc^ will help your product.

Definitely the future. Hopefully people will learn to care less about work.

@nworb I would add "keep the importance of work in perspective." I think COVID might have spurred people to rethink a little bit.

Remote work is the future. But only for those people who know how to self-organize and search for information on their own. So every day there are more and more tools that can help in the work and at least you need to be able to find such tools. And of course you have to find the time to work and not to be distracted by small things. For example, I'm in the process of creating client bases, and https://letsextract.com/extract-... helps me a lot.

I think remote work is more like preference. Some people can still provides same output irrespective of their location. And vice versa also. Defiantly there are certain domain where remote working is not possible like operations. But there are also certain domains where you can easily work remotely. I myself has been working remotely (wfh) from last 2 year. How do you work? @ralphsalterego

In my opinion it's present and future but probably on a hybrid way always you can combinate them.

Yes, it is the future. No doubt. People will find a work around life not live around work in the future.

With remote vs office, I don't think it's an either/or situation. Both will continue to have their place. People are all different with different preferences. However, I think the more our tools and practices evolve to allow companies to create great company culture without relying entirely on office culture, the more inevitable and popular remote work will become :)

It depends on many things such as the working style of the person the nature of the job and the culture of the company. Some people work better alone others not. Some jobs require constant brainstorming. In general I believe remote work paved the way for hybrid working style which I believe is the future since each person decides how it is most comfortable for them to work.

Future is the hybrid work. Both remote and office work are necessary. People have different preferences and if companies want to have maximum productivity form their employees they need to take into consideration work habits.
I believe that hybrid work is the next future. And we developed our product to help employees + companies in this manner to smooth their workflow.

@qudsia_ali definitely... people should be working wherever they wish to in the environment of their choice.

There is nothing wrong with remote or in-house working mode. If you want to work with the best, there is no other way then remote working.

@haserk Do you not think that young employees limit their ability to learn from experienced co-workers working remotely?

@haserk Anyone, anywhere! Remote working opens us to the world and a variety of perspectives.

It's been a phase for me for a decade. For sure it has pros and cons but for me the good far out weighs the bad

@joanne_hurleyv1 🤣 I didn't skip a beat when lockdown happened. I work at a walking desk so I am constantly in motion (+ creativity, + concentration and more) so I couldn't work sitting at a desk all day.
    Peter Orban
I totally agree with Cezary. It very much depends on the management team.
