Hey @abigail_martinez1! The most effective and low-cost that I saw so far is all related to founder-led growth, which means, create content for your narrow audience and try to engage and open conversations with all of them. I know it is time consuming but it is at the beginning the most effective and low-cost regarding the budget required (startups don't have much budget to spend). SEO; takes to much time, Paid; you need budget, creatives and landing pages, Outbound; well it is similar to founder-led growth but more personalised and real, Social Media; takes to much time and you need to build the community first. There are many strategies in between but I am trying to give the best answer with no much detail about the product, market or industry. I hope you found this insightful. Cheers,

Low cost might not be the good wording. When you are bootstrapping you are typically limited by cashflow. You can focus on channel which consume time rather than cash. For example write content to build a SEO funnel. This isn't cheap as it will time intensive but it isn't cash intensive. Affiliate marketing is also a nice channel to look at. You can list our product on market place like Reditus to build a network of affiliate. Affiliate marketing is expensive as you will typically forfeit 20% of your revenue, but as you don't need ot pay cash upfront it is nice for your cashflow.

Here is my list: 👉 SEO and backlinks 👉 Community reach 👉 Affiliate networks 👉 Email marketing (use free credits from cloud providers) 👉 Network of friends/colleagues for their word-of-mouth 👉 Use intent-based user databases or leads and reach out

For startups, low-cost marketing strategies often come down to leveraging creativity, community, and consistency. Here’s what works best for me with pdftopdf.ai: Building a strong online presence through content marketing is a must. Writing blogs, creating tutorials, or sharing helpful tips that align with your product’s value not only attracts your target audience but also establishes your authority. SEO optimization ensures this content keeps working for you over time. Social media is a powerful (and free!) tool. By engaging actively on platforms where your audience hangs out, sharing behind-the-scenes updates, and starting conversations, you can build a loyal following. Partnerships with micro-influencers or industry-specific communities can amplify your reach without breaking the bank. Harnessing the power of word-of-mouth is key. Offering incentives for referrals, like free credits or discounts, can turn your existing users into marketers. For example, with pdftopdf.ai, we let users earn free credits by sharing the service, which works well to spread the word. Participating in communities like Product Hunt or Reddit (in a non-spammy, value-driven way) is another great way to get noticed without spending much. Sharing your journey, answering questions, and showcasing expertise builds trust and awareness. Lastly, personalized email campaigns help nurture leads without requiring big budgets. A well-timed, thoughtful email can create lasting connections with your audience. Which strategies are you exploring, and are there specific challenges you're trying to overcome?

Yes, founder-led growth is super effective for early stage startups! Creating content and directly engaging your target audience takes time but is low cost. Some other good options are building an email list, partnering with relevant blogs/newsletters for exposure, and encouraging word-of-mouth referrals. The key is focusing on high-impact activities you can do yourself without a big budget. Best of luck!

In the end, it seems to be the use of a community where users gather. This is because users actually try a product or service and want reliable information about its reviews.
