Hi everyone, I read some best practices on how to launch on ProductHunt and a common point was that it is better to first set up account, get followers ca. 4-12 weeks before the planned launch to have a larger follower-base to launch to. I am new to ProductHunt so please excuse if the question might seem stupid: 1. Do you need to do this when you launch with a hunter? 2. If you launch with a hunter or even as one person, is there any point in trying to win more followers across several maker accounts in the company? Thanks for your insights!

Company followers are great as they will get email notifications about the launch. It is always good to try to get some even if you have a hunter. The main way to get company followers is to share your teaser page. Also, all upvoters of your launch will become followers of your product. That will make relaunch easy.

Thanks, @fabian_maume! One thing I am still a bit unsure about is how company followers actually work. Will the page just be created when clicking "submit" (https://www.producthunt.com/post...) and is it possible to create the page without scheduling a launch?

Hi Alexander, I don't claim to be a PH expert myself, but here's what I think: 1. I would still try and get users interested in my product before launch, regardless of the presence of a hunter. It's always good to be connected with potential users before the app is ready. 2. I'm totally speculating here but my guess is no

@jgani thanks a lot for your answers! This makes sense, for (1) I just wonder how best to connect with potential users without manually engaging with a lot of potential users on the platform?

@alexanderfarr One can probably find "dark" methods to achieve that but I wouldn't recommend it at all, as it would destroy the PH community and then we would all lose out. I see you're pretty new on PH. I just gave you a follow as an encouragement :) I'm making a product called Upperhunt. Please look it up, it provides PH analytics for two reasons: 1) It keeps you motivated to consistently engage and grow on PH 2) Without analytics you're spending a lot of time flying blind, and this can easily kill your traction (and motivation). Analtyics helps you correlate which activities lead to growth. I'm still actively developing it so they'll be rough edges, but would love to hear any feedback you have.
