Looking for hacker houses

Has anyone had a good experience living in a hacker house? I have a degree in computer science from a top school and a well paid swe job, but dread clocking in every day. I got several results from google and was wondering what it was like to be a part of these houses.

What is it exactly, can you tell me? I look the way of changing my house, or at least renovating it, so i want to gain some experience in this topic. So anyway, now i mostly try to renovate my house with the help of Renovated-Home there was choice for me between using my money for repairing or for moving. I have chosen first option and it's quite good choice
