Launch day - how many troops do you need to rally?

I'm trying to assess when is it best to prepare for a PH launch. My product is coming out of Beta. Looking at competitors, the amount of votes received by top performers is pretty high compared to my mailing list and community. On one hand, I would launch early to get some initial traction. On the other hand, I could get *crickets* if I launch on PH too soon, so I'm thinking it might be wise to rally more people in my community before doing that. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Should I wait until I can realistically gather a competitive number of votes? Or just launch it and if it's a flop, launch it again later?
