Is there really no way to sync my Google Photos to my Mac anymore???

I've researched this for a couple of hours, and it appears to be the case. To be clear, I mean automatic bidirectional sync, just like if I used Mac + iCloud Photos. In other words, to automatically have a photo I took on my Android phone to automatically show up as a local file on my Mac filesystem. I know you can download manually to your Mac, or use Google Drive app to upload from your Mac, but neither of these does what I described above. And this used to work with Google Drive sync, but then Google removed that feature, and never added anything back. If there's not such an app, what are the thoughts on whether one would be popular if created? Do you think this a niche case, or a common need? Thanks, -- Chad
