  • I think there should be a prompt asking us to check for similar discussions on PH

Hey PH fam, I see a lot of repetitive discussions coming up on my feed. Do you face a similar situation? I think a prompt where we are asked to check for similar discussions before posting a discussion will benefit the community. What are your thoughts here? I myself am guilty of not going through the past discussion for finding answers.

You are right, probably PH is thinking what if people stop engaging if they can find answers from past discussions. Not sure. There should be some way to solve this as well. What do you say @vishal_godhwani

@palam_s ahh, maybe if I see a prompt about an old discussion, I would want to read through it. But the current system makes me search for a discussion before I post it. Trust me, before adding up this discussion, I tried searching for a similar discussion using multiple search queries.

People copy and re-post popular discussions a few days to a week later as a growth hack. It's not so bad right now, but it is very obvious. I'm not sure if it'll get better, but I've noticed it. It's also annoying because the original and the re-post get upvoted, and the real estate at the top of the discussions index could be used better. My two cents - would be nice if fixed but not so bad that I'd stop engaging in the discussions. Time will tell. Thanks for bringing this up.

I think many new PH users are also eager to get started with the discussions and tend to post typical new user questions. I myself was guilty of this and only really noticed later on. I have also noticed the cliche type of posts that ask for "what's your top X" or similar posts.
