After adding my product NVSTly: Social Investing to Indiehackers.com some time ago, they reached out and wanted to interview me about the product, which also got featured. They reached out shortly after again to do an interview with this time the focus primarily on myself, how I make my income, etc. So I was happy to oblige. Feel free to check it out here https://www.indiehackers.com/post/34-year-old-finds-financial-freedom-through-day-trading-and-uses-it-to-build-a-10k-mo-fintech-product-PujthWlU8L3nS4mz2GSc And ask me anything that can also help get your product featured on Indie Hackers.

@solyou using other peoples posts to shill your product isn't good practice my man, feels more like promoting/advertising which is all this platform is about but you are doing it in the wrong way.

Congrats! What advice would you give to someone just starting out on Indie Hackers with their product?

@victor_crum List your product, post updates/changelogs or even summary of blog articles and link to the original, and certainly keep the MRR feature updated or link your Stripe to it- they want to interview makers/founders of products that are generating revenue and interview them on how they got to where they're at.

How did they first reach out to you?

@rick_mason3 After adding NVSTly as a product on their website and showing our monthly revenue, I received an email from one of their writers asking to do an article about the product. Of course I said yes. Not long after it was published he asked if I'd like to do a more personal interview, which is this one that has just been published.

@thestarkster Utilize their platform, add your product and make posts with updates on your product. I also believe once your product hits a certain level of revenue they will seek these products out to talk to their founders. Cool thing is, if your product uses Stripe you can link it to IH and show your verified revenue- even more of a reason for them to want to reach out. Be interesting, answer questions honestly, don't polish your answers too much with a 3rd party grammar tool or AI either.

@brigid_stewart The questions they asked had a lot of specifics on our revenue, expenses, etc. From how much money we make from each revenue stream, to how much we spend on expenses and operation costs, and what the profit is after. They wanted to know what led up to the creation of the product.

Hey Rich, your journey from day trading to building a $10k/month fintech product is inspiring. Obviously you put in a lot of hard work and smart strategies. How did you manage the risks involved in day trading, and what advice would you give to someone just starting out?

@naomigarcia For someone wanting to start out I always recommend to first paper trade or demo trade, aka simulated trading. Then learn and practice a strategy through paper trading, once you're profitable you'll be confident to using your actual capital. To minimize my losses I set a few rules for myself. - Take profits when I can, I close half my position at 10% gains, then 80% left of my position at 20% gains, and set a stop loss on the last bit of my position above my break even mark- so even if price drops back down I'm still closing for profits, and if price keeps running I can grab those additional profits. - Never enter a position to make up for a loss, have a reason for each one. Use your technical analysis to help make the decision on that reason. - A rule of thumb is never to use more than 2% of your balance on a single position- I personally will use up to 10%.
