How much does "new community member" badge stays?

We'll be launching in a few weeks our product on Product Hunt. I've read that you got to invite your network BEFORE the launch because new member get the "new community member" badge, which makes their upvote useless... We want to invite our network prior to the launch their upvote is counted. How long does this badge stays? What's your strategy? Thanks!
