Does Discord offer a free alternative to other learning management systems? When it comes to this use case, do you choose Discord? It was a lot of questions :) Let's hope I get that many replies :D

Not sure I understand the questions? Do you mean to hold classes using Discord? To share knowledge on a subject, or what do you mean? 🙌

@phillipstemann Yes, for example, let's have a community where SaaS founders can exchange ideas together and get training and up-to-date information about SaaS. Discord is a great tool for exchanging ideas and communicating. But can it be used like LMS on the education side? Like sending tutorials to community members on discord, and giving roles based on success and completion rates.

in what fashion? I use discord in a lot of unconventional ways. we use it as an alternative to notion for collaborating on the development of our app. in our community server we have an educational category with channels fot stocks, futures, forex, & crypto education. here's an example of one. https://storage.cloudconvert.com... Can use channels to send messages of topics, then make threads on those messages to discuss those topics. Makes for some creative ways to provide content

@richw Thank you for sharing. It's a really nice educational channel use case. Do you think improving this user experience will make a bigger impact in the community? For example, if you have training on "Stock Options" on your education channel, we can present it in a way that includes thought-provoking questions or cards view with an improved discord experience. We can define additional roles for those who complete the training. If the user has this new role, they can reach a new channel that depends on their role or education level. Do you think educational fiction like this will be effective? How do you feel about it, does it sound good to you?

Some uni-classes in the UK (esp. CS) have informal Discord communities. I think it helps get students connected and engaged outside the classroom but as to if you can hold proper learning experience I'm not too sure...

@josef_chen You're right maybe it's not good for informal student groups. On the other hand, discord is a very good tool for products to interact with their users. Some product owners use discord as a support channel. It's a good way to grow the community. Would it be fun to give product training and tutorials on Discord and give roles like badges after the training? Afterward, according to these roles, accessing some private channels or higher-level training can be easily done on discord.
