How do you communicate with a freelancer saying a different language?

Hey guys, I'm planning to cooperate with a Japanese designer, but since I don't speak Japanese and he does not speak English well, we find it difficult to communicate design vision and details via Zoom or Loom. Any experience or advice on how to communicate smoothly via videos (since it's really hard to clarify everything via email or WhatsApp)? I thought about real-time translation tools before, but it's not easy to look at both the translated subtitles and the design content he showed me at the same time. Any suggestion is highly appreciated!
