Crewting is a mix of "Crew" and "Meeting". So share your thoughts behind your name and where you got the idea? In the shower or in the office?

Picking a name is always challenging. Here's the ground rules we used to pick AdEspresso: - We wanted something with a .com available - Company name starts with an A (Facebook partner portal and many others list companies alphabetically) - Something that reminded of Italy (espresso) - Something easy to spell even with our bad Italian pronunciation (espresso) From here we started combining words until we found a domain available. Overall coming up with good names is fairly easy. Finding an available or reasonably priced .com domain is a nightmare. I'm not 100% opposed to .io domains or other TLD as long as you don't get very strong SEO competitors on the .com that will always outrank you.

@massimocw thanks for sharing. Helpful points, never thought about the argument with the partner portals etc. I really like Ad Expresso. Definitely a name I would remember (Who don't like expresso?!;))

Well that's interesting because my first startup was Getillustrations and i wanted a domain name with the name illustrations and get was kind of popular back then.. now my new startup is vectopus and the name is from Vector Octopus.. the startup idea is a Marketplace for vector assets and the name signifies that! It was a long search to find a name that is not taken as .com and the same time means something related to the business!

By accident. For Keep Productive, I kept signing off videos like "have a great day and keep productive" so it spiralled from here.

@francescod_ales nice! I think many names in business are built by accident or spontaneously.

We tried with a first name for a mobile app: HelloHola.app but then pivoted to a webapp for B2B. We decided to focus on our true mission: "Reach the entire world, Translate videos to put it in front of 8 Billion Viewers" So hello8.ai

    Marvin Mändle
@garysz cool story! Hello8 is easy to unterstand and also really modern. Like it for a tech company. We also combine our mission with our name. Crewting - Turn isolated remote worker into deeply connected crews

@garysz and good luck for your launch, will follow it!

That's a GREAT question – we we playing around with different words and combinations, and come up with a simple 'Milestone', as we want to help users achieve milestones while having a gamified experience. I love it! And everyone is now saying to me that every time they say or hear 'milestone' - they think of us 😻 P.S. we're launching tomorrow!! so excited

I'd recommend selecting a name that is: - A mix of easy to remember and meaningful name that catch the essence of what you're trying to accomplish with your business or Product. - Suitable for a global market if your product is intended for worldwide use. - Relevant and evergreen. In our case, we established a couple years ago a design and development agency called Devinweb: The name we came with is based of two words Devin (Dev in) or (Devin) and web: Which reflects our ambition to build great products on top of the web platform !

@abdellah_abbous I totally agree with your points and thanks for explaining the story behind Devinweb!

We are about to launch a SAAS platform JobFitIQ. The long term vision would be to automate the full hiring process once the candidate's CV has been received. This applies for blue collar/grey collar jobs. The tool would itself suggest questions based on the JD and evaluate the answers given by the candidate. The name was chosen based on the capability play and IQ was appended where we wanted to indicate this as an intelligence factor. Ofcourse the availability of the relevant domain was also the factor

I think it is more of a process than a sudden idea. I copied the post recently I shared on X: Your startup's name is its identity. It should be: - - Memorable: Easy to remember and pronounce. - Global: Works well in different languages and cultures. - Professional: Reflects your brand and industry. - Available: The domain name and social media handles should be available. Stuck for ideas? Try these tips: - Combine words: Merging two words can create a unique and meaningful name. - Use numbers: Numbers can add a modern and distinctive touch. - Get creative: Don't be afraid to think outside the box. - Check availability: Make sure your chosen name is available as a domain name and on social media. 💡 Need more help? There are plenty of online tools and resources to help you brainstorm and choose the perfect name for your startup. 🚀 Once you've chosen a name, make sure it's consistent across all your marketing materials and online presence.

@janak_patel56 thanks for sharing this helpful insights. What is the story between TweeFeed? "Tweet" and "Feed"?
    Janak Patel
@marvin_maendle Twee is for Tweet, Feed means content. Helping you to generate reply/message (content) ideas for reply/DM.

II believe the most important is small name! The connection with your business is ok but in the long run if your business holds up high its important customers to remember your business name! Try 6-7 latter at max. Make it catchy and at last have little connection with you business
    Marvin Mändle
@mahir_muzahid exactly these stories I wanted to hear, really like it. Good luck for your launch, will follow:)

@mahir_muzahid I agree that name should be short. What means "Oturan"?
    Mahir Muzahid
@marvin_maendle "Oturan" sounds like "Auto Run" ! Which we do! Automate website search and query and another thing is its just backward of my favourite anime show naruto😅

    Fedica Mobile: Social Media Growth
Fedica used to be Tweepsmap. Then we outgrew Twitter and mapping alone as a social media management Saas. So whats Fedica? It's like a Xerox but really it's a play on Fediverse (the next gen of Social Media) because of two things: 1) we always built novel capabilities first and 2) we're striving to build a community across platforms, like the wonders of the Fediverse promises. :D

As our motto says "Test Everything, All the Time" - we wanted "testing" to be ingrained in the minds. So, when they hear TESTIFI (our company's name) it's clear: we're all about software testing.

I thought Crewting was for recruiting. They sound very similar in a Northern English accent (in my head). In a London accent, it could be more like crew-ting

Giving your project a name is the hardest part for me personally. That’s why I give it 10 names and then go with the one that sticks hahaha I’ll let you on a secret! Shadow was almost called Jarvis or Robin at one point HAHA

Ahoy, fellow product hunters! Choosing a startup name is no small feat, right? Well, for Crewting, the process involved mixing "Crew" and "Meeting" to create a name that truly defines the essence of collaboration. The idea struck me in the middle of a busy workday - probably when my brain was desperately seeking a creative escape from endless spreadsheets. After all, inspiration can strike anytime, anywhere! So, what's the story behind your startup name? Let's share our naming adventures and perhaps inspire others in their quest for the perfect moniker. Cheers to the power of creativity and caffeine-fueled brainstorming sessions!

@thestarkster in my life it's exactly like you are saying. The best ideas come randomly during the day. In the supermarket or during a walk. One of our founders had the idea in the shower and everybody liked it. What is the story behind your startup?
    Gaurav
I tried a lot of two-word combinations (inspired from Face+book, Git+Hub, You+Tube) for names, but could not find any available .com domain names. After spending days on it, I looked at our tagline: "The story within you" and came up with "Storiny" ("STORy withIN You").

    Marvin Mändle
@zignis cool combination. Storiny sounds great!
