So you're a creator and you think your platform cares for you? You're wrong. Platforms never fail to prove that the product is you, every opportunity they get. Instagram has just given the green light to download any public reel straight to your device. No more saving for later (and viewing in Instagram) – you can now download the actual video it. Here's it how in impacts Instagram Influencers Your content is now up for grabs without a shout-out or a nod to your hard work. Someone else can profit from your effort. Well, you could see your content in places you didn't want to be in. So, what's the deal, Instagram? Why did you do this to your creators? It's all about growing... Even it it's at the expense of the people who trust you with their IP. This is how Instagram thinks they can win over TikTok. TikTok has been quite the challenger. They took a lot of share away from Instagram and Reels, while it's successful... It didn't defeat TikTok. So Instagram is taking a page from TikTok's viral strategy. Ever noticed those TikTok logos all over viral clips on YouTube and other platforms? TikTok lets people download videos and the only thing it does is put the TikTok logo on the download video. It's a smart marketing move. You like a video, see the logo, and then you're on TikTok for more Instagram just copied the play. Every video you download from Instagram is now stamped with the Instagram logo. They're playing the same game, hoping for the same results – tons of videos circulating the internet getting more people to Reels without a formal invitation, all for Instagram's grand plan. So, what's the lesson in all this? Sometimes, unconventional moves pay off – especially in the world of intellectual property (IP). The beauty of IP is that even if someone swipes it, the immediate loss is peanuts. Sure, there might be a dent, but the exposure often outweighs it. Think about it – pirated music and software piracy? They've launched singers into stardom and made MS Windows the most used software of its kind around the world. Sometimes, the thieves do more good than harm. Instagram's banking on this. They benefit... Influencers, not so much. What's your take on this? Feel free to share it in the comments!
