Have you met fake accounts who asked support for their launch on PH?

Some of the LinkedIn profiles who reached out to me and asked for support had no or little info on their pages. It is highly possible that there were fake accounts which were created for the promotion. I have some questions about this activity. Please share your experience:
– Why to create the fake accounts for the promotion? Why not use real accounts of makers?
– Have you ever tried this kind of promotion? Share results, your experience, pros and cons.
– What do you think about the ethical side of such promotion? Is it okay to promote in such a way? (no judgement, just curious)

I believe they use fake accounts so that they can try and automate the messaging using browser extensions. The risk with these extensions is that your account gets banned, as LinkedIn does not approve these automations, so that would be a good reason.
I know this happens because I once tried to use a tool like this (phantombuster) to download a CSV of members of a linkedIn group I wanted to reach out to, and the first time I accessed linkedin after doing so, I got a message saying "we think you used some automation, please stop or we'll limit your access to the platform".
Never used any other automation on LinkedIn after that :D

@gabriele_mazzola, thank you for this explanation! Have you ever hired someone to help you with the promotion on Product Hunt? I mean sometimes I have a feeling that some people reach out to me because they are paid to promote your product. But I'm not familiar with this type of promotion either.
