Growing your product tribe

Hey, guys! We were discussing in a group about finding your target group for GTM and occasionally our views were separated into 2 clusters: those who believe that you should build your community as early as possible before product launch and those who believe that it makes sense to pay attention to that only when you already launching a product. What do you think about that? Are you better go early and build your tribe before or do you prefer to save energy and concentrate only on product development and then go to your community?
