Founders, do you build your own website with your dev team?

Or do you hire external web developers to build a custom website to sell your SaaS product?

Currently at pre-seed stage with very limited resources, so we use Leadpage which allows me to create multiple landing pages and measure its messaging and conversion with ease.

I always try to use third party service as much as I can if I want to launch an MVP quickly. Hiring full time teams will cost a lot if you're looking to get things done quickly.

I always drag and drop like Typedream or Squarespace as it's quicker to market. Don't over think it, get it out there!
@semigrownkid Thanks, yes when you're launching it's always best to get started 'quick and dirty'. What about when the product is more established? Would you manage your website on design + dev on your own?

@oglen it depends on the complexity of maintenance & improvements -- of course you'll work with copywriters, SEOs experts, conversion experts, growth hackers, etc. I wouldn't want to get in the way and make minor changes myself.
However, definitely be involved in major experiments if its the main source of conversion.

IMO, the landing page/website is marketing material. And it should be built by Product and Marketing team. Developers should focus on building the core product.

We did it ourselves, but for the reason that weβre building tool that helps to save huge amount of time for building websites. So it was really good balance of team efforts and having nice results quickly
This might be a little off-tangent but we're launching CreativeTuner for this very reason. There are a lot of businesses looking to scale quick but they just can't/don't handle the heavy lifting.
We soft launched last month to some great response, but feel free to check it out. http://www.creativetuner.com
It kinda answers your question (I hope) as to what we're noticing in the marketplace. It's all about speed!
Cheers!

@creativetuner why so high prices?!
@biller Thanks for the question!
Not that high if you consider the amount of work that is generated (on avg.). There are a few of our clients that are essentially saving on the hassle of trying to find and staff an in-house team when their requests that helps them scale. We've saved at least $15-20k year for these businesses who need help with creative work. Totally get that it's not for everyone though.

I used to but now I love Elementor and how easy it is for me to do it myself and constantly make changes. I hate how long it takes when I get the dev team involved and I dont want to bother them tbh.
