Here's what I realized over the last 10yrs leading:
- Orgs of 100 & 300 people
- 4 self-funded startups from 0-50 people

Understand that you have 3 types of people:
1๏ธโฃ Special ops type - best for early-stage companies
2๏ธโฃ Military type - best for later-stage companies
3๏ธโฃ Police type - best for public markets
(credits to Reid Hoffman)
Remember to assess stage <> experience fit.

To do that, follow the "Zone of Genius" method: ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ด๐๐ต <> ๐ง๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐ <> ๐ฆ๐ธ๐ถ๐น๐น.
1๏ธโฃ A strength is anything that gives you energy. It can be a task or activity that you enjoy doing.
2๏ธโฃ A talent is an innate ability that can't be taught. It is something that you are naturally good at, and that comes easily to you.
3๏ธโฃ A skill is a competency that can be taught. It is something that you have learned through practice and experience.

When all three are aligned, people are in their Zone of Genius โ the sweet spot where their strengths, talents, and skills come together to create the best work.
Just then, we can talk about...
1. Culture.
2. Ownership.
3. Growth mindset.
4. Compensation packages.
5. _ _ _ _ _ (name yours)?

This is a great discussion! Interesting on the 3 types of people as you put it for the stage of your company. Iโm a new founder, and although with a very deep entrepreneurial background, this is really insightful
