Does sales reps have to post on LinkedIn?

The sales process has changed.
People want to buy from people they trust.
Sales reps who are kind of LinkedIn influencers have the best results.
Does it mean that posting on LinkedIn for a salesman isn't optional today?

There is no obligation. Some sales are unconfortable with frequent posting. If they are excellent with other channels, don't force them.
However, a well-managed profile that posts engaging and relevant content regularly would gain thousands of views a day. This could be a lead generation machine on its own. (It depends on the product, of course).

I would say Networking on Linkedin and truly engaging and communicating with prospects is more important. Posting becomes a part of it. But if you only focus on posting and not engaging them, then I fear the results will be below average.
