Do you pay employees at market salary as an early-stage startup? 💰

Curious to get the community's POV! We're early stage and don't have crazy amount of VC capital yet. We're currently paying sub-market + stock options for our employees. We're finding it harder and harder to retain employees with sub-market salaries, especially with remote work. Engineers are getting harder to find and are offered ridiculous offers from other companies. Curious to know for those who don't increase pay, what are other aspects of your work environment that makes people overlook the lower salaries! Thanks :) Fred
