Did anyone try competitions with rewards as a marketing tactic for promotion, what were the results?

@fabian_maume Well, you set a prize as a some amount of money, or something of value, and then you make users compete for it by posting on their social medias something that would promote your product.
In our case:
Posting memes about our product on reddit r/memes and the most popular meme wins the big prize... also we plan on giving users additional points for inviting other people to compete... overall a promo campaign.

@mihajlokovacevic I did run it with QApop. We offered some free life time deal for video and blog reviews.
It helped get backlinks to boost the SEO.
It boosted the referral traffic but most of it was from India and didn't convert.

Well , i think for competitions its not allowed and genuine people avoid that. But i saw people do practice reward as a marketing tactic on normal routines.
