Launching soon!
I have a 15 minute limit on Instagram per day and I usually use "Do not disturb" mode when working
because it's easy to find myself scrolling through Reels... However, there are many apps that help me build my daily routine more efficiently. For example, home workouts, a taxi app, a music app, messenger. IMHO, the point is to understand when you pick up the phone for what purpose you are doing it

in my opinion it's a balance. Smartphones offer vast knowledge at our fingertips but can also be major distractions. so, might be good if we find ways to limit smartphone use during focused work so it can boost our productivity. Your lockbox idea sounds like a smart move to minimize distractions and stay focused.
To be honest, I think it's both. On the one hand, it's a little computer that you can use to ask anything via Google, but on the other hand, you get distracted by social media or other notifications.
I remember that 20-30 years ago they asked the same questions about desktop computers and the Internet :) I think it depends on the way we use them. For example, if somebody is used to procrastinating with Instagram and the job suffers, it is bad, but if somebody learns a new language with a mobile application, it makes this person smarter. So, the same as with computers, it depends.
For me, I am trying not to open Instagram while working, and keep my phone away from my working place :)))
