I've seen quite a lot of people using #buildinpublic on twitter or x as you may 😅

@agnieszka_rybij Does it help with reach?

@yashdhanaji I am quite new to twitter and I haven't been using this # myself but I guess people are tagging their tweets with this for some reason so it might

I agree, I will add hashtags when I tweeted or posted video on Tiktok, but it didn't work,

No, hashtags are not totally dead on all social media platforms. They are still a popular way to find and join conversations, and they can be used to reach a wider audience.

hashtags are not as effective as they once were. Their popularity has declined on some platforms, such as Twitter, where they are now often seen as spammy or annoying.

On other platforms, such as Instagram and TikTok, hashtags are still widely used. However, it is important to use them strategically in order to reach the right audience.

They're definitely not as effective as they used to be, but there is still some strategy in using them. I recently learned that on Instagram, for example, unless you have a huge following or go viral, your hashtagged posts wont show up when people search for them simply because the algorithm has changed. However, it's still good to use hashtags because it helps the algorithm understand what kind of content you post, which allows the app to better serve your content to your intended audience. So, still useful, just useful in different ways now.

Use a mix of popular and niche hashtags. This will help you to reach a wider audience, but it will also help you to connect with people who are interested in the same things as you are.

Great question, to add on, how would you go about building a community without them? I see a lot of people saying they are not as useful as they once were but what are the best ways to build community then? Seems like then you'd just be posting into a blackhole.

I would say no, I think they are still a viable way to promote posts to a wider audience. Especially with social media platforms ability to search for hashtags and discover your post. #arenotdead
