Any tips on how to use Reddit for building awareness about the product/brand?

I am finding ads on Reddit non-attractive, mainly because their engagement levels are almost zero. Yet, many sub reddits are quite strict against advertising, and since Reddit is pseudo-anonymous, you cannot easily direct people to check out your other social media, or websites. Does anyone have any good stories/tips to share?
