Why launch a startup, big companies are just fine? Tell your trailblazing story
Hi all, I wanted to start a convo about why those of us choose to take on more risk, work harder, and go through all the startup stuff... and for what? let me know below I'm sure its a story worth telling.
I'm Stephen, the founder of https://comparebasic.com and my reason is simple, I had lots of ideas that were too old-school, too long-term, or too deep to be approved at other companies. So...

If there was an app to increase curiosity by letter people accept that "the more they know, the more the know what they dont know", I'd make that and call it We-are-all-stupid-Soft, not very catchy I know.
If you could create any technology product or service, no matter how ridiculous, what would it be?

Just published the FE framework used for my upcoming product
https://dev.to/firecrow8/introducing-templang-an-abbreviated-fe-framework-3em4
Hi All, it's been a busy week, where shooting for the moon and hoping I hit the stars is the name of the game.
Above is a blog post for our open-source front-end framework. I'll post more about our upcoming https://email2site.com product that will be built with it.
Let me know if anyone has thoughts about the...

The main difference usually comes down to heat dissapation, desktops can have more fans, and closed loop liquid cooling AIOs, its also kinda nice to not be able to move it, makes your gaming cave a real spot to me.
Gaming laptop vs. gaming desktop: which offers better performance and value for money?

It helps to think in terms of *hooks*, small things you can talk about to get users attention right away. for me its out-of- order undo/redo, its a simple feature of our website composer that everyone can relate to wanting at some point in apps they have already used before.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the founder of the religion I grew up in, he was a dreamer and not always in the best ways, he instilled in me that "the world needs to be fixed" created a multi-million or billion dollar operation, and then I watched it fade over my life. It made what mattered in life more vivid and I would put his vision up there with the most inspirational and...

How to deal with a lonely Solo-Prenuer journey
Hi all, I'll try and keep this as light hearted as I can. I'm one of those people who is often observed as "beating to a different drummer". From 3D graphics as a kid, music, changing my name legally from Stephen to Firecrow, when I was 18. The code I write is "odd" and "oddly magical".
I got tired of watching my ideas take a back seat so I've gone out on my own starting Compare Basic.
It's...

I just launched an open-source web framework at https://templang.org, hoping to get a demo (which doubles as my cooking blog) out for our https://email2site.com product later in the week. It's a website composer that lets you send all your content via email to our servers.
Hey builders, what are you shipping this week?

It's actually advisable to use OAuth ( which I assume is what is behind the social logins) for security reasons, it means you don't have to store passwords, is that what your trying to avoid?
Is it OK to ditch email / password over SOCIAL AUTHENTICATION ?

Ideally they go together, I would assume? User-Experience language is not entirely consistent across Market-Fits, you may need to evolve them both in lock-step... Isn't entreprenering fun :)
Do you think UX is important when building a new product or you prefer to validate the PMF first?

It you have control of the price I think this is backwards, the new product should start off costing less, then increase in price as it's dominance expands.
Unless you can knock a value prop out of the park, but that's additional friction/pressure.
I'm also a little surprised that you think a 50% added price is a small difference, any price difference over 12% of the comparison is significant.

University is absolutely important, I say this as a self tought computer programmer with a successful 15 year career. I've realized traditional comp-sci is the *right* thing to teach. I had to learn it on my own. Constant, Logarithmic, ans Sequential time is the most valuable lesson you can learn, if your a decent programmer you may know it instinctually by another name, but no programmer is...
What do you think about universities, is it still necessary today?
