We did these things that helped our mails to land in updates: Removed links from the mails Pivoted to text-only newsletter Added numbers in the subject line Fewer capital letters & emojis in the subject lines Warmed up our domain by sending emails to highly active subscribers fequently. CTA that encourages subscribers to reply back to emails in exchange for a free bonus With these efforts, our mails landed in updates and our open rate grew to 52%
