Well done team!
Really proud of this one. It's a compilation of everything we know and have learnt about startup finances over the years working with over a thousand startups.
My favourite part of this is the finance stack guide. As a first-time founder, what does business finance even mean and what software should I be using?
Please give us feedback and tell us what else you'd like to see...

Well done! I've seen some products hit high rankings with paid upvotes โ something that's not fair IMO. Agree on nailing the prep work though.

Recommendations are always very powerful but there are a few caveats with this approach.
You want to bother existing customers as little as possible. Sometimes you need to provide something in return for existing customers to get out of their way.
The other one is new customers might feel the connection to be staged or scripted, as with testimonials which sound like they have been read out...
SaaS founders, do you leverage your existing customers to convert new leads?

SEO is massive for us, although we could do better on that front. We launched a product on PH recently and got a good number of signups, although these things are always one-off.
Communities and networking is another one. Our team is always providing value and engaging in Slack communities so there is some return on investment there.
We have our startup listed on various product sites which...

We are! I'm hoping founders will be really interested in this one: https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/roast-my-finance-stack
We come across lots of founders who find it hard to manage business finances using their current banks and apps. How do you know the way youโve incorporated the company or the financial tools youโre using are ideal, specifically for your type of business?

Almost always take receipts! The number of times the security barriers at the door go off! ๐ฎโ๐จ. With email, I'm always worried they got my email wrong. Sometimes you need them because you've forgotten your points card. Other than that, hate to cut down more trees than we need.
How would you like your receipts?

Rebank (https://www.rebanknow.com/)! If you want all your finances in one place, to be able to make very cheap payments abroad and track all your expenses, I suggest Rebank (YC19). Granted, I work there ๐
and we have fantastic customer support.
Spreadsheets are powerful (e.g. Airtable) but use them if you want to do specific calculations. Most founders are just interested in burn rate, runway...

Launching doesn't start on the day of the launch. It happens way before. Sign up to product/founder-focused Slack groups and engage with/warm up the community. Provide value and they will provide value back you to (promotion) in return. Use your network to build a list of subscribers and reach out to them on the day.
Hope that helps!

Network. The investor network is incredibly valuable. We are a Y Combinator startup and having access to other companies means better deals on their products and massive support on everything related to your business.
Good luck with the launch!

I used to work in the AI media space. Fake news and entity recognition was the biggest issue we had at the time. AI needs training data and that only comes from human fact checkers. Because of the nature of news, you need to manually fact check new information and feed it as training data. So half of the work is done using humans with AI being used for aggregation and pattern recognition. I do...

I've moved toward learning through experience. As you rightly said, founders wear many hats, and there just isn't any time to be an expert in everything. So when something I don't know comes up, I learn about it and do it.
You'll spot patterns of weakness in certain areas where eventually you commit to "doing it properly" by watching or reading the appropriate books. I tend to allocate a few...

Great post Nicole!
We are building rebank (www.rebanknow.com) for startup founders and finance teams. We believe founders should spend more time on business and less time on finance admin.
So far it's been listening to customer feedback and iterating. You only get so far building a product before you realise customers won't come without you reaching out in some way. We've done content...
