Hi I'm Nate, I'm a founder that loves building things that are useful for people; both commercial and open source. I have a background in the tech world as a Programmer, Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer and most of the projects I work on involve these. Currently I am working on Pickr, which is a Twitter engagement tool for content creators. I believe this set of people are lacking the tools to help them grow their audience and it has become difficult for solo creators to create an audience as the algorithms behind social media platforms becomes more and more complex. How do you get back to work when you lose focus?
It is the thing I struggle with the most. I usually get up grab a cup of coffee and get back to work but it doesn't always do the trick for me. So what are your tactics?
What advice would you give someone who is starting their own company?
I wish someone had told me how much time it would take. I was so naive when I started my company, thinking that it would be easy to get off the ground and make a name for myself. What I didn't realize until later is that there's so much work involved in building a business and so many things that can go wrong. I'm grateful for my experience now, but if I could go back and tell myself something about starting a company, it would be: "Don't expect things to go smoothly. And if you had to pivot... PIVOT!"
