We got really good traction through Slack. I also liked Discord as a more long-term solution, as the community there is more devoted than Slack (at least this is how I felt and found it).

Do you like to elaborate a little on what you mean by "community"?

I would say definitely yes. It may be hard to start, but building authentic relationships is always a good investment that comes very handy when you scale. I strongly recommend that.
