I teased the product on social media, so that got me the first 100 or so. After that, I've offered various freebies (eBooks, etc) for email signup.
How do you collect email addresses for your product launch?

Launching today! I guess I should probably introduce myself and my shiny new app
I'm a Professional Imperfectionist - which means that I'm not a hot mess, I'm an inspiration!
I couldn't find a to-do app that worked the way I wanted to, so I designed one.
Accomplist - productivity for imperfect humans
Accomplist is a to-do app that understands you're not going to get to everything on your list. If you end every day thinking that you didn't get enough done, Accomplist is...
With most systems, tasks can be done or not yet done and that’s it. In Accomplist, tasks can be Skipped or Delegated. (You remember delegation, right? That thing you were totally going to get better at?) Started something but didn’t finish? Mark it Underway.

I designed Accomplist because every evening, I felt like I didn't get enough done during the day. But there's no such thing as "enough" when you're a perfectionist. Don't even get me started on all the things on my to-do list that were never going to get done in the first place.
So I came up with a way to manage tasks in a way that assumes you're already trying to do too much. The result?...

I'm looking forward to playing around with this. It should be quite the timesaver.

This was years back when I was a business systems analyst. I wrote the specs for an instant messaging system that was supposed to work inside a particular game as well as on the website that hosted several different games.
The dev told me my requirements and specifications documents were so we'll done that he wished I wrote the specs for all of his projects.

How much time did you leave between your soft launch and official launch?
I'm allegedly launching next week, but the App Store is still reviewing the app and the Google Play store review has turned into a Kafkaesque mess. I expected to soft launch this week, but that's clearly not going to happen. Not doing any soft launch seems unwise.
Since it looks like I'll be pushing back the PH launch, I'm interested to hear about your timeline.

I'm allegedly launching next week, but I'm having issues getting the app into the App Store and Google Play store, so I can't say that I'm actually ready. I may have to delay, but the launch will be this month.
Who's ready to launch this month!!!!

Squarespace. That might change when I develop a browser-based version of my mobile app, or I'll keep the Squarespace site for marketing and blogging and have the app on a different platform.

This sounds really useful. After 3 years of Duolingo, I still can't tell a waiter about my food allergies in Spanish, but I can tell you that the cows were cleaning the kitchen.

Your app idea is presumably solving a problem that exists. Which means other people know about that problem and have their own solution. What makes your app unique is how you approach the problem and how you implement the solution.

No, but also yes. As we figure out how best to utilize and monetize the technology, we'll go from everyone jumping on the bandwagon to some companies using it well.

Well, my efforts to get my app into the Google Play store have taken a turn into Kafkaesque but I've decided to find it hilarious. So I guess my day is going well-ish.
