How much to include in a free tier?
If you're too generous, it doesn't pay the bills.
But if you don't give enough, people won't bother trying it or coming back.
What's the sweet spot for your product or industry?
Trying to strike the balance for Gliglish, my 'ChatGPT for speaking languages' product (came out almost 20 hours ago! I should probably sleep!)
I increased the free tier just now to see if people stick around longer.

📈🆓 I've increased the free tier:
Guest users nows get 100 credits, or enough for 5 conversations of 5 to 14 minutes, depending on the learner's level in the language and his/her learning style.
And, by the way, you don't need to sign up to try it 🥳

It was just not for you, but do you enjoy it?
I have fixed feelings on marketing. Great if it means finding and creating what people want. Sleazy if it means using selling tactics.
Sometimes I enjoy the fun of writing and creating beautiful of eloquent selling pages. Sometimes I hate it because it feels like begging for attention and like it steals time from creating the product.
But even...
Running a 1 person business is all about learning everything. Marketing was just not for me.

I use GitHub Copilot all the time, makes writing code often as easy as pressing tab! A buddy of mine and I keep laughing at just how good it is. It's as if it could read your mind.
And of course ChatGPT. I asked it to review content I write.
I just launched (today) a "ChatGPT for languages", so I used it a lot to test it out obviously. But I want to start using it to fix my Russian, and...

👋 Hey Product Hunters!
I made this new thing called Gliglish. Here's the problem I had, and the solution I thought of:
🤔 Problem
The problem is that if I study a language but wait for months or even years before I speak it, it's gonna suck. I'll feel too intimidated to ever open my mouth and it's only gonna get worse with time. I teach English and see a ton of students focus too much on...

I love learning languages, but honestly, once you know English, I don't think you need anything else for work.
But there's more to life than work. People should learn languages for the same reasons they learn music: it makes life more beautiful and interesting. (I'd argue the same of coding!)

I know Hungarian, Russian and Spanish in addition to my native French.
I'd learn Brazilian Portuguese just for the beauty of it and of Brazilian music.
I'd like to get my 'revenge' on Japanese one day. I'd started learning it in my teenage years, but never got serious about it.
Korean sounds appealing, just because there's something crazy and fascinating about Korean movies.
And Indian...

You don't get to learn a language quickly. It takes hundreds of hours to become fluent.
But you can avoid wasting your time and focus on methods that work. It'll make the difference between starting and giving up because it's too hard versus seeing results, maintaining your motivation and getting to fluency after hours of rewarding work.
The biggest mistake I see people make is learning too...

I could go on and on about this because I've learned Hungarian to an advanced level and got a decent level in four foreign languages. But here's my two cents:
- You need to practice the result you want. If you want to be able to have a conversation, then practice speaking.
- Grammar books are just a check-list of what you need to know. But learning happens through practice exclusively.
-...

They might be similar in terms of excitement or investment. But there's a degree of practical use for LLMs I haven't experienced with NFTs!

I can see how this could make people feel shy and lacking in confidence, but I think it's a limiting belief.
Take Andrey Azimov. Super nice guy. His copy is usually rife with mistakes, yet he's doing very well as an indie hacker.
Or take Pieter Levels. He likes to curse (in interviews) and his writing sometimes feels awkward. Yet his copy is super convincing. He goes straight to the point and...

Traction by Gabriel Weinberg felt very actionable. You can just take the table of contents and see it as a check-list.
The Exponential Organisation felt super interesting, too.
But at the end of the day it's more about how much you test and how fast you implement. The more I learn, the more books and ideas feel overrated. Implementation is everything.

I normally take Sundays off and then it means keeping screen time to a minimum. But it's been two weeks without a day off. I'm close to launching something and see it as a race against time.
This being said, throughout the day, at the end of the day and whenever possible music is a great help. I'll just sit on a bean bag or on the bus or go for a walk and let music take my mind in a different...

But how do you define best? :)
One of my favorite marketers used to have a page that looked crap. He had designers come up to him and say they could definitely do a better job. And no doubt they could… visually. So he'd tell them he'd pay them for the job if their nice-looking landing page converted better, but they did not.
Now I'm not saying prettier necessarily converts worse. But...

In short:
- using rhymes and alliterations helps come up with names that sound good and are memorable (works for kids' names, too!)
- short and easy to type is better
- preferably, it should evoke the end result desired by the user. This may be less important trickier for MVPs/startups though because they might pivot a lot.
- you want to stand out and sound different than your main...
