Been using Kap since the start and after having gone through 10+ GIF recording tools and this is the only one that's been giving me satisfactory results. It doesn't give you full control over color algorithms and rendering results etc, but I suspect most people won't want that.
Pros: Best GIF and screen recorder, simple to use, lives in the menu bar
Cons: May be too simple for some
