I think validation is one of the most important steps, and is not necessarily a quick step either. Also, one of the problems with this step is that many founders are using the wrong data/metrics to make a false assumption that their idea is actually validated (I'm at fault for this too). So, definitely put a priority on getting the right validation and finding the right product-market-fit.

This really depends I think on what you need the payment process for. We have worked with many clients/startups across multiple industries, some that even fall in the "high-risk merchant" category which limits the options. Really depends on what you're trying to validate. For PitchPages.io, a pitch/fundraising tool we're launching soon for Founders, we tried to validate by mimicking the solution of our product in real life scenarios to gauge response and results. Using that data we then decided it was appropriate to actually build the tool for everyone to use.
