I did some recreational programming and wrote an OCR algorithm that seems to be unique if not interesting. I did some reading and found that OCR seems to be a solved problem. Then I found this article https://research.aimultiple.com/... according to which the remaining problem is reading handwriting. Is anyone here in the OCR industry have any opinions on this? Is handwriting reading the last problem? Are there any problems outside of handwriting that need to be solved?

A friend has a small business (bar) and is pretty tech skeptical. I wanted to try out some products for him that might help grow and sustain his business. Does anyone have a collection or recommendations for folks doing good stuff in this space? Not looking for the blood sucking stuff like DoorDash etc. - smaller scale and built with small business in mind, rather than trying to take over the world. Anything and everything welcome. Thanks!
