After Everything Failed, Here’s How We Hit 24,000 Users

Hey Product Hunt,

I m Nikola, a bootstrapped builder who s tried launching a handful of products with @whoisrade during our 6-products-in-12-months challenge last year. Rade s been in the B2B startup world for 20 years. We thought that experience would make B2C SaaS product growth a sure thing. It didn t.

Our first step into B2C was @Olovka, a $9.95/mo writing tool for students and researchers. We were excited, did a spiffy Product Hunt launch, wrote blog posts, posted on socials but after the initial buzz, growth dropped off hard.

Here s what we tried (and what didn t work):

Demo Competition! 🏆

I have a proposal to make to you all! Whether you already launched or planning to launch soon, this is your chance to showcase your product to the PH community in a slightly different way. So hear me out When was the last time you sent your product demo video to someone and got some unbiased constructive critisism ? You normally only send demos to people you are trying to sell your product to. So they will rarely tell you if your demo was good or not. They will only tell you if your product is something they'd be interested in or not. Crafting a really effective demo is a skill! A skill that every founder, maker, sales person or marketer must have. If you can't demo your product in a way that draws and retains the attention, you will struggle to sell it! Many fail to produce a compeling presentation and end up losing the deal just because of it. Even if your product is great! There are so many important components, steps and considerations to make. Do you know what they are? Or do you think that you know? Let's put that to test and let the community vote and decide which demos are winning, which ones are on the right track, and which need some help to make them better ! From presentation and storytelling skills to the quality of content and timing... there will be a number of scoring criteria. And remember, it's not a product competition, it's a demo competition! It's main purpose is to help each other make better demos so we can win more! Are you in ? If so, join the interest list here https://forms.gle/MxfFKX3tdcUo4JWo9 and if we get good enough numbers I'll share more details with you soon Ps: share this and tag anyone who might be interested too !
