Thevic format reinvents images: it keeps the width and adds automatic scrolling for long visuals. Perfect for the web! Try the converter now—it's open-source too!
Hello Product Hunt!
I'm excited to introduce the .vic format, a small revolution for web image display!
Why is .vic a game changer?
Today, traditional image formats (PNG, JPG, etc.) impose fixed width/height ratios, making web integration challenging. With .vic:
✅ No more arbitrary image resizing
✅ A fluid display that adapts to any website’s needs
✅ New possibilities for web design and user experience
How to use it today?
The .vic format is not yet recognized by browsers and servers. That’s why I created VicFile.io, a platform that allows you to:
🔹 Convert traditional images (PNG, JPG, etc.) into .vic
🔹 Extract and display file metadata
🔹 Generate an iframe for easy web integration, even without native support
An open-source project to explore and improve!
The site’s source code is open source and available on GitHub 📂! But there’s more: the repo also includes a command-line and GUI converter.
As with any open-source project, I encourage developers and creators to explore, use, and make it their own (while respecting the license, of course 😉).

If you find the project interesting, an upvote, a share, or even feedback in the comments would mean the world! ❤️
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and see how .vic can help redefine web design!
