Thanks @dsky for the posting! Came as a surprise :) We were preparing a reach out to product hunters, to open up our platform / device for hunters. So, here's us scrambling to piece that together: Travis is a pocket sized mobile device that lets you speak in 80 languages. How does it work? With one click (click it like an apple mouse), Travis listens with its dual noise canceling mics, does a speech to text, translates, and text to speech / says it out in one of the languages with its amplified speakers. There's 80 languages online (wifi / 3G SIM) and 20 languages offline. We're using a multi-engine approach for the speech-to-text, translation and text-to-speech. We found that such a multi-engine solution gives a better total experience. Most of the engines involve artificial intelligence & machine learning so accuracy is expected to get better and better (it's already at a pretty decent standard, imo). We will also be building our own neural network. The noise canceling mics + amplified speakers are important for Travis to be effective outdoors, and you don't have to hold it to your mouth, and the other person's mouth. It works at one and a half arms length in outdoors environment, and three arms length in meeting room environment. This way, you don't have to fuss with where to hold or place the device. In addition verbal communication, you can engage eye contact and talk with your hands. The UI/UX is designed to be use mainly voice and gesture (touch surface). To keep the UI/UX minimalistic and purpose specific designed, there will be Android interface, no app store. Just one click to trigger your default action, gestures and voice for other actions. The display screen is there (for stuff like entering password) but we keep the UI/UX design away from the screen. Under the hood, Travis runs Android 7.0 (users will not see the Android), powered with a Quad-core Mediatek processor. This is where we are thinking of ProductHunters. We would like to open this platform to hunters to play with and develop with. Stuff we can imagine are like - Voice interface for your apps, multilingual - Alexa / Alexa skills - Travel guide & international business driven user scenarios - Mobile music player - we're sure you have more ideas than we do Anyway, this really made our day. Questions, ideas? fire away.... cheers! Team Travis, Nick & Lennart
