Kudos to the whole team for putting this iOS app together as companion to http://theinternet.wtf
@amar_joshi - thanks for your comment! The content is aggregated from different social media sources and ranked within the app by social media interactions (likes, shares, comments...). We do not prefer any content source when it comes to ranking, it's primarily done by a number of interactions we analyze in real-time from all over the world.
@amar_joshi@stefanm So wouldn't be content on other networks then Facebook always be ranked lower since Facebook has most users and will always have most interactions?
@amar_joshi@michael_hohl This is not necessarily true for all kinds of content and every content type we aggregate. Besides that, the number of interactions is a sum of interactions from every network in which the content was shared.
i quite like the concept of this app, and'll definitely give it a try, but i wonder how the app is going to try and be free of bias. obviously sites like Facebook have got into trouble for how to aggregate news, and i really think this app would be great not just for trending topics, but to showcase said topics from any sides there might be :)
@thewrongjoshua Hi joshua! Thanks for your interest in our app and idea. The aggregated content is not only from Facebook. We also consider further social networks and RSS feeds. The content is ranked by interactions (likes, shares, comments...) the posts got in social media in general, not only on Facebook. I hope this helps!
