Monetize your Jekyll site. Add subscription management, payment processing and access controls with a single Ruby Gem. Don't switch to Substack or Ghost for paid content and keep the simplicity and customizability you're used to.
Hey Product Hunt! -- I'm Vitor and I built Subscriber Only, a Jekyll plugin that helps you monetize your site.
Jekyll is a pretty amazing piece of software. It's easy to use, it's incredibly customizable and can be deployed everywhere. Unfortunately, there's no way to gate content. If you decide to monetize your site, you'll figure out the easiest way to go about it is to switch to Substack, Ghost or good old Wordpress. Doing so, you'll lose all the Jekyll goodies you're used to and you'll be forced to move your content to a third-party platform.
Subscriber Only aims to fix this. You get subscription management, payment processing, access control and all other machinery needed to run a membership's service with a single Ruby Gem and a couple lines of YAML:
- It's incredibly easy to setup.
- It integrates with Jekyll Feed, so your RSS feed will keep working as expected.
- You get to maintain complete ownership of your content.
- It has no up-front cost. We take a fixed 10% (+ CC processing fees) from your revenue.
I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. So, do give it a try and let me know what you think! If you need any help, feel free to reach me at vitor@subscriber-only.com. Thanks!
