Stride is a new game for runners and walkers. The objective is simple: own the most tiles in your neighbourhood. To capture tiles just hit start and the app tracks your physical movement in the background.
Fantastic app. As a top 10 global leaderboard user, I've enjoyed this reboot from Day 1 (much more than Run an Empire!). Worth every penny and keeps me exploring regularly. I look forward to every weekend trek with a passion I never had before. Only areas of improvement are better customer service and more attention to weeding out cheaters. It seems only posting on Reddit gets some attention from the devs, and even then it's occasional. Other than that minor quip though, the app is a solid 10!
Love it, have played since in beta. In my experience Stride really shines at 2 things: 1) encouraging you to explore new areas to color in the hexes. As an added incentive, if you do a loop run all of the hexes in the middle color in as well. Stride's led me to get out of my same-old run and explore all kinds of new, different routes that I never would have. It's made running far more varied and interesting. 2) the first time I lost hexes to another player I found myself caring and plotting a new running route to reclaim the hexes. This social competition has led to a friendly tug-of-war of key hexes which definitely makes running more exciting.
Been trying to walk more, especially during this pandemy, and after weeks of using it I noticed that I actively make more efforts in going outside (also to keep them raiders away from my precious hexagons). Overall, it's great UX and the UI is pretty.
I just returned from my run using my Garmin. The game synchronized nicely. That is a must for me behause usually I do not take my phone with me when I go running. Like the app so far.
I've been using the free version of Stride, which has really motivated me to go out on (longer) walks and explore new territory. I like the competitive element of 'chasing' others who also frequent that area. I've had a few instances in which the app froze or didn't save, which was annoying. This may now be resolved. I'm considering joining as premium member but think it's too expensive. The upside of that would be to be sort of a club or community, which I'm currently not
