My name is Sam Feuer and I'm the Founder of the Smacktive app. I'd like to let you know why we've created Smacktive. We want to help you find someone nearby to do exactly what you want to do at any given moment. Want to do X right now or later today? Use Smacktive to find someone and do it when it works for you both.
I personally love tennis, but sometimes it's tough to find someone to play tennis at my level and especially at a time that works for my crazy schedule. So, I created my vision with Smacktive. With a few taps I can let people near me know that I want to play. It works for any sport or activity imaginable. Try it out and please let me know if you have any comments or questions. Right now we are on iPhone and will be on Android by next week!
Thanks for sharing your story. Someone is going to have to nail the intersection of interests and proximity...how are you thinking about keeping people interested when no one in the area shares their interest (e.g. I like to row, just searched...no dice :( )
@corleyh Great point. You can put #row or #rowing in your status in the current app. As the app gets more and more users in your area, people will contact you to row (or for whatever you decide to put as your status).
We are submitting an update to the current app this week with preset activities that people can choose to add to their profile. This way there will be much more information about each user outside of their current status and #.
Beyond that, we are working on an auto-matching feature. So, if no one else near your selected radius has entered rowing, when someone adds rowing to their profile or status you will get an alert that lets you know someone has joined with the same interest/s. Then you can decide to message them unless of course they message you first because they are so excited to find another rower nearby :)
We have several other exciting features coming out soon as well as our Android app launch which will be next week.
