Shopify stores have public data files that are easy to navigate. For example, the store information for https://skeletonoptics.com is available at https://skeletonoptics.com/meta.json. The product information is cleanly available at https://skeletonoptics.com/products.json
The eCommerce platform for anyone - from solopreneurs and small and medium size businesses. Even many of the enterprises also run their commerce platforms on Shopify due to its simplicity, flexibility, and security for both the merchants and end-users (customers).
I have been an eCommerce analyst and consultant for over a decade and have launched and migrated many online stores on many eCommerce platforms including Shopify, Magento, and WooCommerce; however, Shopify has been a number one choice for me and many of the merchants I work with.
It is cool for all sizes of business, however, there is one significant concern from the payment perspective - Shopify creates a big challenge for the alternative payment methods to be listed in the Payment methods` list. The requirements for P-methods in order to open Shopify API for integration is quite too much, really to much.
So if I have a local method that is not well-known in the world or does not process 10millions everyday - it is almost impossible to add it to my shop.
Hope that Shopify team can review their strategy in this aspect as the rest tools and services are amazing.
Looking for some updates.
