We’re excited to present ShlinkedIn, an open-source satirical social network where everyone is a thought leader. Create an alter ego, business jab your friends, make your own ads, and write inspirational posts with lots of hashtags. #monday #morning #inspo
Sooooooo eternally grateful for my new position at Shlinkedin, my new corporate overlords!!! 😃😍🥳🎉 Hopefully they whip me less than my last exposure-paid internship.
@td_21_mvp Well, if I may answer your question with a completely unrelated comment: I am drinking a harmless coconut water right now and also love coconut water :)
Re: our story generation, we actually use a proprietary network of no-nonsense neural nodes neatly nestled in numerous noggins. We don't actually use any AI, so all these posts are written by real folks! The auto-filled templates that can sometimes be used (the buttons on the post box) are created by a randomizer our fearless engineer built, and a huge list of silly inputs we wrote and can continually add to.
Hi Product Hunt!
My friends and I have long bonded over the ridiculousness of our LinkedIn feeds. We are constantly amazed and confused at the mish-mash of content marketing, thought leadership, and broetry that makes up 90% of our LinkedIn feeds.
So, we thought: why not create our own social network, part fake LinkedIn, part The Onion, part something else, and call it... ShlinkedIn?
So far it's all been private, but we're excited to open it up to anyone who wants to join today!
Some of our favorite ShlinkedIn features:
* Everyone is an alter ego. Some examples: Serious Business Man. Receptionist at Monsters Inc. Optomizer. Elon's Husk.
* All the ads in the feed are user generated. You can "buy" or "sue" any ad
* There's an entire ShlinkPoints economy
* Write your own clickbait for "ShlinkNews"
* You can "business jab" someone to get their attention
* Endorse or write testimonials for your friends. I'm PROUD of my 3/5 star rating.
Also, I decided to make it entirely open-source, because no one (including us) has much trust in centralized social networks these days. Working on this has been a great way to learn a lot of Elixir / Phoenix Liveview.
I'd love for you to join, create an alter ego, invite your friends, endorse them for random skills, make your own group. It's all still rough around the edges, but we we're excited for you to explore this strange fun world we've created!
