👋 Hi Hunters! I'm Alex, one of the founders of Rolo Secure Chat (www.ROLO.chat) a chat and calling app that we built with BlackBerry's end-to-end encryption technology (yes, the keyboard phone company that has been trusted by banks and governments for decades to secure their communications.) We're currently in the soft launch phase of Rolo, and hoping to get more early adopters like those in the PH community to help us test it out and guide our feature roadmap. The app is free, with premium packages coming in Q4 2021 (of course we'll be offering promos to our early active users if you sign up soon.) So why ANOTHER chat app? WE’RE BUILDING A CHAT APP WITH FEATURES FOR PROFESSIONALS While Rolo can be used internally, we’re focusing on that external B2B communication. One example of a business feature is our File access control: When sending a PDF or image file, you can set it to “View Only” mode, so that it can only be viewed within Rolo. WE DON’T SELL YOUR DATA  Most chat apps are built for consumers and focus on monetizing their apps by selling their data for advertising purposes. Rolo does not sell our user data. Later in 2021, we’ll offer premium features we believe will entice enough of our users to help cover our costs. WE PUT SECURITY FIRST  Your chats in Rolo are end-to-end encrypted by BlackBerry, so you can trust that nobody other than the participants of the chat has access to your messages. More features are coming soon too that will protect every part of your communications. What are the befits of Rolo in comparison to Signal? Adding a whole new chat messaging service that quite does the same misses the point of replacing apps like Whatsapp I think. People won't move if they can't find enough people to move with them and people are already complaining about having too many social media apps they have to use every day. Don't you think the solution to make something like this succesful and useful is to make it something more revolutionary close to sms, mail and a multiplatform iMessage where people can use other apps to message and call the same people? Competing against apps that are competing with Whatsapp won't make people move from whatsapp to other apps, right? Or isn't that what you are going for?

@pregenun Hi John, thanks for the questions! Actually we're quite different from Signal, WhatsApp etc. We're fans of those app's simplicity, and hope to be as easy-to-use, but actually our mid-term product strategy is quite different. We have several business-focused features lined up, that will increasingly differentiate us from those consumer-focused chat apps. The first of those features is available in the app today, and that's "File access control". Basically when you send a file to a contact in Rolo, you can set it to be "View Only", i.e. it cannot be taken out of the app. At a later date if you want, you can also revoke all access to the file. This feature is particularly useful for professionals exchanging documents like confidential product specs.

A good option to secure our privacy without worries about being watched!!! Can't wait to try it out. Cheers
