How Rex came to be 🦖

Our story is deeply personal. It all began when my co-founder @ahmad_roumie started helping me get in shape for my wedding this summer. We spent 3 months of YC mostly in coding and networking events, so naturally we both put on some weight. After three weeks of daily exercise and carefully tracking his diet, @ahmad_roumie had lost 6kg or 13 lbs (full twitter thread here). I was struggling to get in shape, so I asked him for help. He was my accountability buddy. I sent him photos of my meals and frequently asked him for workout advice. I lost 11kg (~25 lbs) in 2 months and looked pretty sexy (at least according to the bride) in the wedding photos. This is how Rex was born. We thought: why shouldn’t everyone be able to get an Ahmad? We started building an MVP using LLMs, and our friends loved it. 2 months later, we are presenting you the new version of Rex.

Congrats on the launch! It's great to see more tools like this in the space and I like your interface. I ran into some errors while trying different foods. "1 apple" didn't work (said it wasn't a food), but "apple" did. And there seem to be a few issues with math (I assume this is just handled in the LLM directly for now?). "apple" has 52 calories but "3 apples" have 231.

I built the tool just out of pure frustration of logging meals on app like myfitness pal, where I have to do 10 taps just to add that I ate an apple.
