Highly, highly recommend. I would give it 6 stars if I could!
Honestly I've been a mac user all my life, so I first learned about window snapping from my Windows friends when they got Macbooks and found the feature missing.
I found Rectangle when looking for something that replicated that feature on Mac, and its been in active daily use for me since then. I'm glad it was free/open source, as it was what got me into downloading and trying it out in the first place. The quality is top notch.
Best thing is the keyboard shortcuts! If you have external monitors, you can switch around and resize windows with a few keypresses instead of trying to drag them on a trackpad. Its so very convenient that its really not an exaggeration for me to say that I don't know how I lived without it for close to a decade. 😂
One of my first installs whenever I get a fresh Mac laptop. Anything that keeps my hands on the keyboard is a win in my book. I basically just use Ctrl+Option+ Directional Arrows or Enter, but it keeps everything nice and tidy. It's especially useful when I only have one monitor.
This is the first thing I install on every Mac I use. Seriously, it's gotten to the point where I can't imagine using macOS without it.
Rectangle is a free, open-source app that supports macOS 10.13+ and both Intel and Apple Silicon. I'm always down for free and open-source, so that's a big thumbs up from me.
But what makes Rectangle a must-have for me is the convenience it brings. The shortcuts are a lifesaver, and you don't even have to memorize them all - just repeat them to cycle through window sizes.
For those who've used Spectacle Mac app, Rectangle is pretty much the same thing. When the app first runs, you can even choose the Spectacle default shortcuts.
If you're dealing with complex workflows, it might feel a bit basic. But in all fairness, as a free app, Rectangle packs a punch. I've never felt limited by it.
So, if you're a Mac user and haven't given Rectangle a whirl yet, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's been a game-changer for me and I reckon it might be for you too.
