#ProductHuntReview Maybe @caseyneistat should get this so he doesn't have to fish his iPhone out of the river. Looks like it does the job, but I wonder if the plastic slides on surfaces. If so, could make it out of a hard rubber that won't slip on a surface.

@sethlouey @caseyneistat haha that was my first thought as well!

@sethlouey Seth, thanks for the question. The Pocket Tripod is made of a hard Polycarbonate, and can slide if you place it on a slippery surface. The decision to not add any high-friction material to it was made so that it doesn't grip to your wallet when trying to place it in or remove it. Of course, as long as you don't move the phone, it wouldn't have a reason to slide. But if you must, you can easily counter the slipping by using a simple grip pad or any grippy material on hand.

A pocket tripod would be very hand...

Looks great, but I wonder how the phone doesn't fall when placed with a large angle, as the support seems pretty light.
Rambod Radmard
@laemeyy excellent question! Like you said, the Pocket Tripod is very light, and doesn't use its weight to keep the phone from tipping. Instead we've tried to maximize the base area as much as possible with the available material. So as long as the phone's center of gravity falls within this area, it will stay upright. For very large phones, like the iPhone 6 plus, this CG falls beyond the base area if the phone is tilted beyond 45º in the portrait position, and it will tip over. But of course it will work fine in landscape. We've summarized the range of angle adjustment of some of the most popular phones, which you can find here: https://pocket-tripod.com/device...

@rambodr Also, since I havent read in detail what material you're using, does it have some sort of rubbery grip so it doesnt slide when placed on a slightly sloped & slippery area, like rock?
Rambod Radmard
@steynviljoen Thanks for the question. It's made of a smooth hard plastic, so depending on how slippery your surface is, and if it's at an angle, it can slide. But in most cases, natural surfaces have enough irregularities and friction to keep the tripod and your phone in place. Let me show you in a couple of examples. and

@rambodr @steynviljoen this is awesome! I can think of so many situations I've been in where this would have been super useful.

@rambodr super! Thanks, will have to try out it - I run in odd areas. 😉
