Hi everyone, I am very excited to launch plsrefresh.com! 🧑‍💻 Sharing code with non-technical users becomes a breeze Plsrefresh allows you to easily create a UI for your python code and to host your application online with just a few clicks. 🙌 Get rid of annoying, repetitive data requests In my previous job I would spend a significant amount of time analysing publicly available datasets, finding insights and developing forecast models based on that data. A recurring issue I kept running into, was that whenever somebody else needed to have the latest data or forecasts, they would reach out via email and ask me to refresh the data (Hi, could you please refresh xyz dataset...). While sending around emails with the latest data in excel files is not an impossible ask, this can nevertheless quickly become very time-consuming. Furthermore, most of the time, I would deal with non-technical colleagues, so just sending over the code and letting them do it themselves was not an option either. Overall, I found this is very inefficient and I thought that there must be an easier way to let non-technical users interact with my code. While there are existing solutions that allow you to build internal tools, they involve quite a bit of technical infrastructure or are too broad in scope, therefore requiring too much effort if you just want to get a simple bit of code with a basic UI up and running. This is a major hurdle if your job is mainly focused on providing insights and not on provisioning and configuring parts of a tech stack. In my experience the typical data analyst does not necessarily have, nor is allocated, time to wrap her head around these kind of issues. 💆No need to become a frontend dev and to figure out web hosting Plsrefresh takes cares of all the annoying bits and just works. You bring the code, we take care of the rest, all batteries included! You can deploy your code in just a few steps: 1. Create the input UI that users will see when they access your app. 2. Create the output UI, which will be populated once your app has been successfully triggered. You can return custom messages by leveraging placeholder strings which can be assigned values to inside the code integration. Additionally, you can also export pandas dataframes as excel files directly from your app. 3. Integrate the inputs from the input UI and output UI with your code. That's it, we then take care of deploying your code! All that is left for you to do, is to share the link to your app with your users. This allows them to interact with your code without having to install anything on their local machines. ✍️ Any feedback would be much appreciated! @pin_pino Thanks! Yes, eventually we would also like to include other languages! For now we are focusing on python though as in our experience most data work is done in either python or R, so we thought that would be a good place to start :)
