Plotify creates alternate movie soundtracks from movie plots. Simply enter a movie title and Plotify will give you playlist which you can play in your browser, or save to your Spotify account for later.
I built this fun little app as a coding challenge for a full stack developer position. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, so I wanted to share it with the Product Hunt community. Hopefully you'll have as much fun creating playlists for your favourite films as I have been.
Oh, and I got the job 🎉
@mxmllr thanks Maximilian! I use the OMDB api to get the film plot, then pass the plot through a Natural Language Professor called Compromise to pull out the nouns. Then each remaining noun gets its own Spotify search and whatever is the most popular track (for the signed in account) is added to the playlist.
Love it. I had this exact same idea about 10 years ago. Would love to see you take the same logic and recommend playlists based on any body of text. Lyrics, poems, speeches etc.
Good luck!
@nashtheory This would be really fun to build. Thanks for the suggestions! I love the idea of creating playlists from famous speeches — then mixing the two.
