I participate into the pioneer tournament three time, the joy of participating is less and less present for many different reason. 1) They probably use the lean + agile Kool-Aid, which is not suitable for developing a great social network. 2) Lack of incentivization for supporting constructive feedback 3) Their gamification model is sub-par and childish 4) No public channel to discuss openly about the app, we are in 2019, we have Discourse,Inside etc... no excuse! 5) They don't promote other productive application for helping fellow pioneer, which is kinda stupid because we are all about productivity. I don't know if I will participate to the next tournament nor recommend the app, the app itself could be easily 10x better.
Hugely appreciative of Pioneer for the sense of urgency it created for me last month. I highly recommend you to participate in the next cohort if you have a side-project, but are burdened with inertia... For me, even the positive feedback was socially reaffirming. It spurred my creativity and excitement to do more.
I was in the first and second months of Pioneer (if I remember correctly) and it was exciting. Get in there, share my product, collect some feedback, iterate iterate iterate. The issue came a few weeks in when we began running into bouncing rankings and steep drop in review quality. I looked further into the project and found a lot of transparency issues with how things are ran, how their team of "pro reviewers" interact with us, and 0 response from the creators when reaching out. Over time they've fixed quite a few of these issues and have build a good platform that I support, but I think I'll just watch for now. Keep it up guys, but also keep fixing the problems.
