Hello Everyone! 👋 I've built something that I hope might be useful to others, something to help me solve a problem I was having more often during lockdowns 😇 Problem 🙄 The problem is that I often didn't know what to cook with all the leftover ingredients I had at home. It didn't get better when the pandemic hit, and I worked from home, where I cooked more often and dined out less, so I bought more groceries and often bought too much of everything, leaving me with leftover ingredients. I often have to find recipes for them quickly because otherwise, they would spoil. I just wanted recipes where I could use most of my existing ingredients, not throw away food, and not spend too much money on new ingredients. Solution 💡 I thought it should be possible to search recipes by ingredients, and so Picknprep was born. You simply add ingredients to your pantry, specify which ingredients you want to use in the search, pick your favorite cuisines and meal types, and hit search. Now you get recipes based on what ingredients you selected. You can view each recipe in detail and save them. I also added the option to set servings that automatically adjust nutritional values and ingredients, since calculating them manually is tedious. Each step in the recipe instructions also lists again the ingredients and equipment needed for that particular step. What’s next? 🤔 I plan to add a feature where you can submit recipes that includes ingredient search and automatic calculation of nutritional values. What do you think?
